Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about AppLockr.

Quick Lock is the global switch that enables protection for all apps you've set as blocked. When it’s ON, launching a blocked app shows AppLockr’s lock screen. When it’s OFF, blocked apps are temporarily accessible (you’ll still keep the list).
Tip: if you block a new app while Quick Lock is OFF, AppLockr automatically enables it.

  • App: blocks opening the selected app with the lock screen.
  • Notifications: hides/mutes notifications from the app.
  • Both: applies both behaviors.
You can change the mode anytime from the main list (⋮ button).

  • Draw over other apps — to display the lock screen over target apps.
  • Usage access — to detect the foreground app securely.
  • Battery optimization ignore — prevents the system from killing the monitor service.
  • Device admin — protects against easy uninstalls and enables anti-tampering.
  • Notification listener — needed for notification blocking.
  • Camera — for the intruder selfie feature.
  • Files/Media — for the vault (file obfuscation/encryption).

When enabled, AppLockr captures a selfie after suspicious attempts. Photos are stored locally inside the app’s private directory /files/intruder_photos. You can view them from the dashboard (Selfie card) or open the last photo from the popup.

The vault hides/encrypts selected files into the folder Documents/AppLockrVault using the .aes extension. Use the Vault screen to restore files. Third‑party apps cannot open them directly.

We recommend enabling the Lock Settings card so that system settings cannot be altered to bypass protection. You can always unlock it from the same card.

Please check the following:
  1. Open Permissions in AppLockr and ensure all required toggles are granted.
  2. Disable battery optimizations for AppLockr.
  3. Keep the persistent notification enabled.
  4. On some OEMs (MIUI, realme, etc.), allow auto‑start and background activity.

The free version shows a banner. Purchasing Premium removes ads and enables a cleaner layout. No account is required; purchases are tied to your Google account.

If Device Admin is enabled, you must first disable it: System settings → Security → Device admin apps → AppLockr → Deactivate. Then uninstall as usual.

AppLockr stores app settings and photos locally on your device. We don’t upload your content to our servers. For more details see our Privacy Policy.
